Time Base

The TIME HAT (NEO-F10T) supports a time base mode that improves time accuracy by entering a TimeOnlyFix.

Note
HAT Compatibility — Time base is available only on the L1/L5 TIME HAT (NEO-F10T).

How It Works

  1. The receiver determines its precise position (Survey-In or Fixed Position)
  2. Once the position is known, the receiver enters TimeOnlyFix mode
  3. All satellite observations are used purely for time solution
  4. The fix type changes from 3D to TimeOnlyFix

Use Cases

  • PPS time server — combine with kernel PPS and chrony for stratum-1 NTP
  • Scientific timestamping — nanosecond-accurate time reference
  • Synchronization — align multiple devices to GNSS time
